It's Currently December... seriously?

Hello year flying by!  Anyone else feel this way? Where did the year go?  Well- in honor of December what else would I be doing but linking up with wonderful Farley over @ Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her currently.

Does anyone else just {L.O.V.E.} those AT&T commercials with the adorable little kids? My current favorite is this one...

That little darling is just the cutest!

I am love, love, loving that it is the Holiday Season! My favorite time of year.  I really enjoy going out shopping for the people that I love and buying toys/games to donate to the little ones who don't have a Christmas like my parents could provide me as a kid.  I just wish I had more money to spend on everyone.  I am pretty good at finding amazing deals though!!  I swear, I should start my very own "Christmas Shopping for you!" business. This year, I'm not doing too much gift shopping because my family and I are going on a trip to Daytona Beach instead! We're leaving December 26th and won't be back until the 1st! 6 glorious days at the beach.  Oh I hope it's warm!

One of my favorite Holiday traditions was setting up all of the Holiday Decorations with my family.  My dad is a Christmas nut.  He just LOVES all things Christmas (especially decorations) so we'd get everything out of storage, unpack, put together our village, take out everything else, decorate inside, then head outside.  We used to have friendly competitions with our neighbors and we swore every year we would beat them! We never really did though!

C'mon intersession...10 school days to go!  When is your last day before the Holiday Break? (Mine is the 13th)

April Currently

It's that time of the month!  Time to link up with Farley over @ Oh' Boy 4th Grade!  So without further ado..

I don't even know why I'm up right now.  I'm still on break and should be sleeping in!  I'm watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition.  This show is so heartwarming.  I helped out during one of these builds in my home town, it was a lot of fun!  Got to hang out with Paige and watch her do her stuff!

Anyway, I am loving have 1 more week of break.  I'm just not ready to go back yet.  Plus I'm being sparred the 2nd grade versions of April Fools tricks!  Little do they know, I will get them when we get back, April 1st or not!!

I really need to get planning so I don't have much to worry about.  Fourth quarter always brings lots of craziness.  We have a super fun Non-fiction reading & writing unit that goes along with our Life Cycles unit.  My kiddos are going to be doing a big research project about any animal of choice & creating a powerpoint, so I've got a lot of putting together to do for this project. It's going to be so much fun!!

Need to clean.. nuff said :)

I've always been a believer in "Positive thoughts bring Positive outcomes!"  I even taught myself how to avoid getting sick *FLU sick*  I know it sounds kind of ridiculous, but I am totally not even joking.  I haven't been sick since 6th grade!  Boom!

OH, by the way.  Have you heard of this new site, Educents?? It's launching tomorrow and if you head on over today, you can take advantage of a $10 coupon for your first purchase.  Click here to sign up!  They're going to be offering what they say to be some pretty sweet deals on stuff for all of us lovely educators!

If you haven't already, head on over to Farley's blog to link up!

Currently & a Question

Thank you Farley over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade!, for providing me with a reason to blog!  Pure exhaustion is setting in as we approach our 10th week of the quarter and intersession creeping around the corner!  I can't even think!  So without further ado...

Yup, kickin' it ole school.  I've got my Pandora playing in the background while I'm planning.  I need to to calm me, or I might scream! :)  Music has that calming effect on me..And what better to listen to but the MC Hammer Station?

T.L.I.A.I "Thank the Lord it's Almost Intersession!"  I am SO tired.  I mean really! I went to bed at 8:00 Friday AND Saturday this past weekend.  Sad, I know.  Luckily we've been working really hard and having lots of fun, so it's not a bad exhaustion, at least not all of it.. but it is exhaustion.  I need this 3 weeks to relax and rejuvenate!

Really Want/Need a whole entire new spring wardrobe!  If you looked in my closet, you would see a pathetic collection of clothes.  Pretty much nothing.  I should take a picture and prove it sometime.  Usually, people who say "I have no clothes" just means they have none that they want to wear.. but me, I really mean I have NO clothes. And shoes?  I have a pair of sneakers, 1 pair of falling apart flats, 2 pairs of flipflops, and 2 pairs of boots (Which are of course, not going to be in season for much longer).  I'm in desperate need of a Kohl's sale and some Kohl's Cash!

Like/Love the warmth & sun that is slowly coming back to NC!  It's been really chilly and I'm getting ready for the warm temps!!

Hate classroom disorganization!! More specifically, if my kids don't put things back where I told them to 5 times.  OR if they have papers all over their desk, back packs & coats falling out of cubbies.  Drives.Me.Crazy!

So that's my currently for March!  Head on over to Farley's Page & link up! :)

On to my question.  I am in serious need of some Reading Workshop small group revamping.  How do you all work on things like comprehension/fluency/word i.d./vocabulary with your kiddos.. and what do you do with the kid who are way above grade level?  I meet with them 2x a week, but just individually.  Should I have them in a group?  We were doing book clubs for a while, but took a break.  I really liked those & they were good at even running them on their own!  Any help is appreciated :)

February Currently!

I always love the beginning of a new month so I can link up with Farley at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for the currently!

I love How I Met your Mother!! They are moving onto their last season so we are FINALLY going to figure out how!  Wohoo

I got an IPAD mini from school because of the new NC legislation for K-3 reading assessments.  My school has used Fountas and Pinnell only since last year and we spent A LOT of money on those assessments so it really sucks that we had to spend all this money for the new assessment guidelines {Where's my raise?- Oh yes, it's going to support the ridiculous legislation...I should stop before I begin rambling. I'll just leave it with this...

 }

Anywho- now everyone in the state has to use Reading 3D & mClass for reading assessments.  I know most schools use this so only about 40% of the state has to jump on board, but what we were doing was working so I don't understand why we have to change it.  The only good thing that came out of this is my new IPAD mini which is pretty awesome.

I really need to run!! I just have so much to do and it's been so darn cold that I've been slacking

My girl scout cookies are in the cabinet, but if I get up then I'd have to uncover myself and then I'd be sooo cold.  I can't decide whether it would be worth it. Oh by the way, THANK YOU Puxatawney Phil for NOT seeing your shadow. Hooray Spring!!

I don't really *Need* anything right now, though there are a lots of things I want! :)

And dirty tabletops!! They drive me N-U-T-S.  My kids know that if they have stuff all over their table, I'm going to make them clean it up so they may as well just keep it clean.  I'm not talking about the work their doing, just that clutter of papers not being used, pencils not in a box, snack crumbs.  One of my darlings is quite messy and her desk drives me Ca-razy... It's hard to even go over to her desk :\

It's not only messy/dirty tabletops at school that drive me up the wall.  It's anywhere!  If there are crumbs on the dinner table (especially when we are eating), I'm wiping them up an cleaning the table.  I don't know why, but I just can't stand it.  Weird, I know!

Well- that is all for now folks!  Don't forget to head on over to my store and take advantage of the Super Sunday Sale!  My store is on sale Today-Monday but you can only get the 28% discount on Sunday with the code "Super."

It's here! January Currently

Whoop Whoop, The January Currently is up and alive.  I've only been a part of this little bloggy tradition for about 3 months but I already look forward to it at the beginning of each month!  Be sure to head over to Farley's Blog & Link up!

Listening...I can't lie.. NYE is not my favorite holiday.  I am NOT a night person by any means.  I love my sleep!  But I figure I should at least somewhat join in the festivities and watching the Rockin' Bash is good enough for me.  One of these years, I swear I will be a part of the big party in NYC.  I have to cross that one off my bucket list, but not this year.  Justin & I probably would be celebrating with a few coworkers if it wasn't for this terrible cold/sore throat we both have!

Loving... Teaching at a year round school!  It means I get the rest of the week off while most people have to go back on Wednesday or Thursday.  I don't think I could ever go back to a traditional schedule.

Thinking... I'd like to do less "wingin' it" this quarter and be pretty planned out at least for the first half of the quarter.  I know if I plan too far ahead I'll regret it because something with get thrown off, it always does.

Wanting... Ice cream to soothe this terrible sore throat.  I bought some yesterday but no joke, it was gone 4 hours later- and I didn't even get one tiny itty bitty lick *Insert sad face*

Needing... to be seriously serious about getting back to working out.  It's so hard with the little time I have.  I'm so exhausted when I get home, plus I've got extra work to do...  This is why planning ahead will *hopefully* help!!

OLW... when I saw what this was, I was stumped for about 5 seconds.  Then it just came to me.  My word is confidence.  I need be confident in myself as a teacher, fiancee, daughter, sister, cousin, neice, coworker, friend etc.  Believe that I am doing the best I can and not get down on myself when I can't do something.  Remind myself I'm not superwoman and that I can't do it all, but if I give what I can and do my best, that is all I can do, and that is OK!!

So there's my currently :)  Can't wait to head on over to your blog and read about yours!

Cheers!
